Online Contest

Develop a hypothetical online contest to promote a business or product. The length of the competition is up to us and we can choose any business or product we want or use our own business if we have one. The contest can take any digital format we wish. Emphasis is to demonstrate our ability to plan an online contest.

Key Goals

  1. Drive traffic to your site.
  2. Increase interest and understanding about your brand/product.
  3. Generate new email opportunities.

Things to consider

Promoting the contest (Channels, platforms)
Tracking progression (Infographic, excel)
Target audience (Demographic, Geographical location, Social media usage)
Contest type (Sweepstake, vote, video etc)

Its important that the contest goals align with the business ethos or marketing
practices.
Deliverable:
Detail/showcase your contest however you would like.
(Word document, Infographic, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc)
Show how you have maintained the key goals throughout your contest. Demonstrate attention to the target audience you have chosen, upholding the brands/products ethos, throughout your campaign. As well as research surrounding online contests to help you plan your own.

I would create campaign posts on Facebook, Instagram and X, starting October half-term until mid November, the event starts end of November. The plan would be to create a post for the above platforms containing a link to SDR’s (South Devon Railway) website’s landing page. On the landing page will be a request for email subscription to the newsletter. Subscription to the newsletter is the entry into the prize draw. Name will be selected at random at the end of the contest. I would track the progression by using a Bitly link and google analytics. Note: Instagram doesn’t allow links in posts, however, posts would still contain the URL and people can then copy URL into their browser.
